Ant-Man 3 Star Kathryn Newton Teases Her Debut as Cassie Lang in the MCU Sequel

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star Kathryn Newton has teased her role as Cassie Lang in the upcoming MCU sequel, calling the character “kind of a mess.” Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Newton, who takes over the role of Cassie following the character’s brief appearance in Avengers: Endgame, suggests that she will be a lot like her father, Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang, in that she doesn’t really have everything together and is not really prepared for all these superhero shenanigans.

“That I’m really not perfect and I’m super impatient and I want to be a hero but I have no idea what I’m doing and I think Cassie Lang is like that. She’s just trying to figure out how to be a good person and you know making a lot of mistakes. She’s kind of a mess really, yeah, and so am I. You’re definitely gonna see some of that. Oh, my good heart.”

The recent trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania gave us our first idea of what we can expect from the Marvel adventure. The footage finds Cassie Lang dragged into the mysterious Quantum Realm along with her dad and his pals, and even shows Cassie wearing her own superhero suit. Seen sporting a purple costume similar to her old man, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will evidently find Cassie joining her father on his latest mission as she becomes the superhero Stature. Though she could also be named Stinger, or Ant-Girl, or Giant-Girl as she has had many names in the comics. For now, let’s say it’s Stature.

So, alongside the further exploration of the Quantum Realm, the introduction of new heroes and villains, and the continuing adventures of Ant-Man and the Wasp, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will also find Cassie Lang following her own arc as she steps up to become a hero and no doubt a major Marvel player.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Will be the First Outing in Phase Five of the MCU

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will officially kick off Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and finds superhero partners Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.

Directed by Peyton Reed from a screenplay by Jeff Loveness, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne aka Wasp, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne, and Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang,

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will also introduce the next major MCU antagonist in the form of Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror. While he seems surprisingly friendly in the recent trailer, we already know the danger that Kang poses thanks to his variant, Loki’s He Who Remains, with Kang all set to battle the Avengers in the upcoming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in 2025.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is scheduled to be released in the United States on February 17, 2023.
